For our Spring 2025 Critical Theory course at PSU, in conjunction with the Museum of the White Mountain’s upcoming summer Smithsonian exhibit on “Change in Rural Communities,” we themed our final projects on “Rethinking the Rural.” What does the word ‘rural’ mean in 2025? How do we navigate our own connections between rural and urban spaces? And what might literary critical theory have to say about how we think about space and place in our day to day lives in New Hampshire?
On this page, we’re assembling a one-issue journal entitled “Rethinking the Rural.” You can find the table of contents below. The issue will also be advertised via handouts and QR codes at the MWM’s summer exhibit.
